Kure Taisho-machi Market

This local marketplace has continued since the Meiji era.
The carefully selected fish by expert eyes are freshly caught from the Pacific Ocean. If you’re not sure which to choose, ask the shop staff for recommendations! You can also enjoy what you buy at the adjacent tourist facility Zeyopia!
Right in front, the nostalgic “Kure Omiya-san Street Shopping District” is also lined with many charming shops.

Kure Hachimangu Shrine

After filling your stomach, take a stroll around “Kure Hachimangu Shrine.” This magnificent historic shrine hosts one of the three major festivals in Tosa—the Kure Hachimangu Autumn Festival.

As expected of the town of bonito—the votive tablets offered here are truly powerful!

It is said that passing through the hole in this large rock removes misfortune. The hole looks small, but surprisingly it’s fine!

Nishioka Sake Brewery

A sake brewery that has continued since the Edo period, it is the oldest existing brewery in Kochi Prefecture.
The historic building houses a gallery displaying items related to sake brewing and the history of Kure.
Tastings are available, and many visitors buy Tosa sake as souvenirs. Recommended is the dry sake “Kure,” which pairs perfectly with fresh fish♪

Nakatosa Town Museum of Art

This museum, with its retro white-walled warehouse-style architecture, leaves a strong impression. It houses works by leading artists of the Japanese art world, as well as artists from Kochi.
